Living Well Wednesday – Jan 11, 2012

This past week I joined Curves.  I start every year out thinking this is my year to lose weight and I do lose at the beginning, but I usually gain it back plus more by the end.  I am hoping this year is different.  I have gone three times for 30 minutes each this past week, which is my goal right now.  I also have a goal to lose 30 pounds, which is 10% of my weight.  Go ahead, do the  math, I don’t mind.  I have never weighed this much is my entire life and I feel awful – mentally and physically.

I love my local Curves!  I get to work out with people that I know and love.  We laugh and talk the entire time and before you know it 30 minutes is over.  It is not a chore at all to go.  They have started Curves Zumba which sounds like fun.  I am not sure how it works yet, but once I go to one of the classes I will be sure to share.

I haven’t started on a change in my diet yet.  One thing I have learned from past failures is that I overwhelm myself by trying to do it all at once.  I want to spend the first month or two getting into the habit of going three times a week.  Once I have that down, then I will work on my eating habits.  I have been told by lots of people that just by starting to exercise it will begin to unconsciously affect my eating habits.  If you start doing something healthy, other healthy things will follow.

Even though I have only been to Curves a few times I already feel better.  I feel happier and more energetic.  I enjoy the company of the other ladies there and I leave feeling ready to take on anything.
