Lights for Liam Lyon & Prayer Request

I love Facebook.  Most of you who follow my blog on Facebook know that I spend a huge amount of time on there.  Most of it is just spending time browsing around.  I learn things that are good to know and things I wish I didn’t know – but this past week I learned something that touched my heart in a huge way.  It was a page I came across of a little baby boy who has fought to live since the day he was born and he has fought this fight for over a year.

William Elijah Lyon, affectionately dubbed Liam, was born February 18, 2011 at 3:25am to Whitney and Brody Lyon in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Although he was about 5 weeks early, he was a perfect size weighing 6 lbs and measuring 19 inches long. But it was quickly apparent there was a serious problem. Thanks to Dr. Seglem and his diagnostic skills – Liam was quickly diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our boy had a congenital heart defect that is fatal if left untreated. He was transferred that evening by Life Flight to The Children’s Hospital at St. Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  (Copied from the I Love Liam Lyon Facebook page)

You see, little Liam was born with half a heart, but he has touched the hearts of thousands with his will to live and his cute chubby (from fluid build up) smile.  He has had 4 open heart surgeries, including a heart transplant.  He has struggled with fluid build up in his little body for months and now is at the point where he is not able to take much more.

Liam Lyon and his family

Liam Lyon and his family

The family had Liam baptized today and are asking that everyone, everywhere, turn on their porch lights tonight and pray for Liam.  His fight may soon be over, let’s pray for him and his family to know the peace that only God can give during times like this.  Pray for complete healing, pray for a miracle – be bold!

They have a Facebook page set up where you can post your name and location where your porch lights will be burning bright.  The Facebook page is Lights for Liam Lyon.

I am sure the family has stacks of hospital bills. If you are able to give, they have a Paypal account set up.  The Paypal link is iloveliamlyon@yahoo.com.

Please take a moment to say a prayer for this little guy and his family tonight.

transformation-and-change

There’s a change a comin’ . . .

After much soul-searching and prayer, I have decided to change things up a bit on my blog.  I feel like I have been leading a double life – a Christian life and a politically correct life.  I have read and heard from so many direct sales coaches  not to discuss religion when you are in a direct sales so that you do not offend anyone.  Well, trying to live like this has been offense to me and I am not going to do it anymore.  Here are the facts – I am a Christian, I am an independent consultant for a Christian direct sales company, and the Bible tells me to let my little light shine.  So, guess what? I am going to let my little light shine! Read more »

Discipline Challenge Week 2 – Time Management

I am back for week 2 of 5 Weeks – 5 Disciplines – 5 Challenges with Courtney at Women Living Well Ministries.

Last week’s challenge was to start a healthy habit and I chose to drink a full glass of water before I had my first cup of coffee and to drink at least 8-8 oz glasses of water throughout the day.  I have found that I am more alert after that first glass of water and that instead of drinking 3-4 cups of coffee each morning, 2 is all I need.

Week 2′s challenge is Time Management

Ughh! When I saw that this week’s challenge was time management I almost wanted to quit! I have a horrible time management habits – HORRIBLE!  I will sit down at the computer to read email, tell myself to ONLY go through my email and then go do some other task, and before I know it 2 or more hours have passed, I have not finished my email but I have checked out Facebook, visited many websites and ended up accomplishing nothing! Why I love direct sales

As an independent consultant for some years now, I have had people ask me why I do what I do.   After spending today at a fundraising event as a vendor I felt inspired to share exactly what draws me to direct sales.

I am sure you have all heard the pitches from direct sales companies . . . “Be your own boss!” . . . “Work around your family’s schedule” . . . “Earn extra money for the holiday’s” . . . “Earn tropical cruises, cars, cash bonuses, etc.” . . . “Live your dreams.”

Well, I have to tell you, those reasons were what lead me to direct sales, but that is not what drives me now.  I am not making piles of money or earning tropical cruises, but I am having fun! Read more »
